Our Vision

Gustaf's Up North Gallery's vision is to provide locally sourced fine art and imported Scandinavian gifts, bring arts education to our community, and offer in-house custom framing design.

Our Company

Gustaf’s Up North Gallery is a regional, professional, fine art gallery dedicated to giving local artists a voice and celebrating the Scandinavian history of the community. Our 6,000 square foot gallery is full of fine art, handcrafted furniture, pottery, wood crafts, Scandinavian gifts, books, fine jewelry, and more. There’s a new surprise around every corner!

At the back of our gallery is the paper resource and custom framing studio, where our guests can bring their treasured photos and works of art to be framed by owner Jana Lensing and her team of framing professionals according to any style and budget.

Our Story

In 1973, founder MaryAnn Jindra opened her first gallery in Stillwater, Minnesota. In 1996, MaryAnn and her husband, John, opened the Up North Gallery in Lindstrom, Minnesota. They later added the historic Gustaf name to honor the history of Gustaf Anderson, a successful Swedish immigrant and gold speculator who settled in Lindstrom after years of farming nearby.

MaryAnn Jindra retired in October of 2019, leaving the gallery in the trusted hands of new owner Jana Lensing. The transition of ownership has been smooth and our long-time clients have felt very comfortable working with Jana.

Today, Jana and her team of trusted framing professionals and gallery representatives strive to both honor the history of the company while looking toward the future. In 2020 Gustaf's Up North Gallery will undergo many physical updates as well as a name change. To stay up-to-date with our changes, be sure to subscribe to our mailing list!
